believe

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I believe in magic. Any magic. The magic of a baby’s smile, fairies in the garden, or just the magic of life. Do you believe in magic? Is there magic in your life?

Whatever you believe, be sure you share your beliefs. Take a moment and just think about them.

bracelet

Monday, March 30th, 2009

She gasped when she saw the bracelet. It was identical to the one her father had given her. How could this stranger possibly have a one of a kind bracelet? Who was she? What did she have to do with her father?

Who is the woman with the bracelet? Any ideas for me? Send me your suggestions we’ll see if they match mine. Write on.

Manuscript Salvaged

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

For those of you who missed my post in January and don’t know that when my laptop crashed I lost the newest novel and all the edits. Well, there is someone looking out for me. I was able to salvage 44 unedited chapters from my PC. Today while looking for something else I found a hard copy of the book’s ending. Yes, I have the whole novel now. It will again need edits and revisions, but I have it and it is saved on a flash drive. Nothing important stays on the computer.

With this in hand I put all of it into the flash drive today. I will make a hard copy when I return from spring break and get my daughter, Jamie, to go over it with a fine tooth comb. She will find my typing errors…those that spell check didn’t. She will also be able to tell me where I need to revise and add or delete copy. Unfortunately she has done this once already with this book.

Once that is done I am submitting it to a new publisher while I look for an agent. I’m also looking into doing some virtual book tours so watch my blog and calendar for those.

While I am on vacation I will look at what I have written and will try to find my way to starting a fourth novel. I am more than ready to do that.

My site that gives me a word a day is only giving me a word every two days, so I am looking for a second source. Please bear with me as I work the kinks out of that and keep on writing. Let your voice be heard.

Beloved

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

The beloved father was being laid to rest. Little did anyone suspect the trouble that would follow when the lawyer read the will. Father had left all his worldly goods to the nurse who had cared for him.

In my book Secrets, the librarian was beloved by all in town. Many people and pets are beloved. How did you use beloved?

Shampoo

Friday, March 27th, 2009

The shampoo was on the counter, the shower was running and she was standing there with water running down her body. Drat! She would have to drip across the room to get the shampoo.

Had a bit of a problem getting into this word. I’ll have to think about it and give it a try at a later date.

Subway

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

The subway was crowded. There was no place to move. The body sweat was a stench beyond description. Here he was in the middle of the masses.

What did subway say to you? Sandwich? Underground train? Something else? Did you write an essay, poem, random thoughts? Share them with me so that I know whether this is working as a writing tool.

Tape

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

The crime scene tape waved like a flag as I drove up. I would have to weave my way through the crowd just to get close. Wonder what it was this time.

What kind of crime was it. Who is the person who just drove up? This is a one minute write on the word tape. What would you write? Is this something you would want to develop? I know I might put it away for a week or so and then see where it takes me.

Reward

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Maybe there would be a reward. He’d hike to the local police station and see what they had to say. No one left this kind of money lying around. In this town, no one had that kind of money.

How did you use reward? Did someone do something good for which they were rewarded? Was someone acknowledged for going above and beyond at their job? I’m waiting to hear.

Glow

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

The light glowed in the window. It was the only thing visible in the storm. If she could only make it to the light she’d be safe. She had to keep walking. The baby on her back wiggled.

Where did glow take you? Are you in a storm? Is it the glow of a fireplace? A pregnant woman? Of moonlight? What makes you glow?

Grid

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

The grid was supposed to show where the property was located. Why can’t I find it? Did the numbers get put on the grid wrong? The GPS cannot find it either.

What did you do with grid? Will it evolve into something more? Will it help break your writer’s block?
